Hobe Sound, FL – Robert Eugene DELAMARTER, 88, passed away on Feb. 8, 2012. He was the son of Edward N. Delamarter and Celia A. Moseman, born May 14, 1923 in Little Westkill, NY where he also attended a one-room school house. After moving to Grand Gorge, NY he worked 24 years at the Greendell Packing House in Prattsville, NY. In 1973, he moved his family to Hobe Sound where he worked as a butcher for Piggly Wiggly and Winn Dixie of Stuart before opening the Hoofs and Feathers Butcher Shop on US 1 in Hobe Sound. During his retirement years he worked as a security guard at North Palm Beach and as an attendant at the Hobe Sound Mobil gas station.
His hobbies were traveling, photography, art, wood working, gardening, flowers and fruit trees. He loved spending time with family and friends and attending the Hobe Sound Bible Church.
Robert is survived by his wife: Verna J. (Snyder) whom he married Feb. 10, 1945; children: Philip D. of Hobe Sound, Jonathan E. of Thomasville, NC, Naomi J. Whippo of Mencle, PA, and Ruth of Port St. Lucie, FL; sisters: Evelyn E. Fredenburgh of Bradenton, FL, Deloris A. Hollis of Baltimore, MD, Winifred L. McAlpin and Beatrice A. Rhoden of Georgetown, TN; 8 cousins, and 27 nieces and nephews.
Robert had 9 grandchildren: Davida M. Lovejoy, Robert A. DeLamarter, Stephanie D. Cantrell, Jon A. DeLamarter, Amy J. Early, Victoria F. Englund, Roger S. Whippo, Timothy R. Whippo, Elizabeth Whippo, and 26 great grandchildren whom he dearly loved.
Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 12th, 2-4 PM, and the funeral Monday, Feb. 13th, 10:00 AM, at the Aycock Funeral Home, 505 SW Fed Hwy, Stuart, FL. Final resting place will be Fernhill Memorial Gardens, 1501 S Kanner Hwy, Stuart, FL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to THE MANORS OF HOBE SOUND, 9555 SE FED HWY, HOBE SOUND, FL 33455.
