He was born on June 5,1933, to Rachel Mary McClurg and Leonard Scranton Platt Sr. in New York City. He grew up in Riverside, CT and attended the Brunswick School, Taft School and Williams College, class of 1955. He received a Masters in Chemical Engineering from MIT in 1957. He met Barbara (Bebe) Bellinger in Greenwich, CT and they married in 1958. Len and Bebe raised their two children, Pam and Bill, in Greenwich, later moving to South Africa. Len began his career as a chemical engineer in New York with Caltex Petroleum, until his retirement as Managing Director of Caltex in Singapore. His work afforded him and his family the opportunity of travel and adventure in many countries.
Len loved tennis, squash, sailing, golf, travel and adventure. He was a quiet man who was dedicated to his family and his life-long friendships. After the death of his wife, Bebe, Len married Margot Reid Howar in 2012 in Washington DC. A past president of Greenwich Field Club and a former president of the Boys and
Girls Club of Hobe Sound. Len was also a loyal member of the vestry of Christ Memorial Chapel in Hobe Sound. He was an active alumnus of Taft School and Williams College.
Len is predeceased by his first wife Barbara Platt, brother Alexander Platt, and sister, Christina Kemper. He is survived by his sister Trevor Campbell, wife Margot Platt, daughter Pam Platt, son Bill Platt, Bill’s wife Courtney and his grandchildren, Schuyler Platt, Billy Platt, Alix Platt and Sam Matthews.

A celebration of Len’s life will be held at Christ Memorial Chapel on Saturday, January
28th at 4:00PM.
