He was born July 19, 1941, in Queens, NY, the son of the late Maurice F. and Natalie (Gannett) Delano. He was a graduate of the College of William and Mary receiving a Degree in Business, which he followed by entering the Navy as a fighter pilot during the Vietnam War and being discharged as a Lt. Commander. He then went on to graduate from Pepperdine University receiving a Doctorate in Business.
Mr. Delano was employed as a 1st officer on passenger jets with PanAm for over 10 years. When he retired, he moved to Stuart in 1995, and owned several laundromats including the Cove Road Laundromat.
Kent is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dorothy (Collas) Delano of Stuart; a son, Michael K. Delano of Baltimore, MD; a daughter, Kenra K. Delano of Jensen Beach; three grandchildren; a sister, Susan Land of Westport, CT; several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Mr. Delano's wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
