Judy was born on January 26, 1923 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Carl Francis Moulton, and Macy Marie (Putnam) Moulton and grew up in West Hartford, CT. Judy attended William H Hall High School in West Hartford, and was a proud 1943 graduate of Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, MA, where she studied mathematics and physics. After graduation, Judy worked as a lab assistant for General Electric, until serving in the Women’s Army Corp from 1944 to 1946. After her service, Judy got a job as an engineering analyst at Pratt and Whitney. She obtained an MBA from University of Hartford in 1968 and spent the rest of her career at United Technologies in the aerospace industry. She and her husband James H. Kerr spent much of their married life in a beautiful stone, wood and glass home in Storrs, CT, which they designed and built themselves. Judy and Jim loved tending to their wooded property and lovely lawns and gardens, and enjoyed the abundant wildlife. In 1976, United Technologies transferred Judy to the Treasure Coast of Florida, and she and Jim lived in Hobe Sound, FL together until his death in 1978. In retirement Judy loved to sail, swim, and beach comb, and was an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 59 in Stuart, FL. She also loved working crossword puzzles, which she did daily, right up until the day before her death.
Judy is survived by her nephew William “Rudy” Politz of Newington, CT and her nieces and grand nieces, Macy Moulton and Hannah Gladczuk of Waitsfield, VT and Carrie Moulton and Lillian Allen of Oakland, CA. Judy was predeceased by her husband Jim, brothers William Moulton and Gardner Moulton and her sister Marilu Moulton Politz.
A memorial service will be held at Ayock Funeral Home Young & Prill Chapel, 6801 SE Federal Hwy., Stuart, FL 34997, at 11am on June 9, 2021, with a burial ceremony on June 16, 2021, at 11:00 am, at Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Ave, West Hartford, CT 06107.
