Henry was born in Camden, New Jersey, and grew up in Vineland, New Jersey, where he graduated from the Vineland High School in 1950
He worked at Kimble Glass Company, among others in the area. Henry later moved to Butte, Montana, and San Diego California.
He entered the Us Army in 1956, served at Fort Lewis, Washington, 6th Army, 4th Division, 22nd Infantry, and at Budigen, Germany, 7th Army, 593rd Field Artillery, and was honorably discharged in 1958.
After discharge, Henry attended Drexel University, graduating in 1963 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While there, he served as President of Pi Tau Sigma, Mechanical Engineering Honorary Fraternity.
He married his late wife Peggy (Zaehring) in 1960, and had two children. They later relocated to Pittsgrove Township, Salem County, New Jersey, where he became active in community activities, serving on the Township School Board, as a Township Committeeman, Deputy Mayor, and Planning Board Chairman, and Salem County Planning Board Chairman and Board of Social Services President.
Henry was employed at The Philadelphia Electric Company, as an Mechanical Engineer, serving in various capacities, retiring as Superintendent of Maintenance, Eddystone Station, in 1991.
Henry and Peggy later relocated to Palm City following his retirement, and he become active as a Master Gardener, Florida Yards and Neighbors Yard Advisor, member and officer of the Martin County Amateur Radio Club and Martin County Amateur Radio Emergency Service, and The Palm City Civic Organization.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Peggy, in 2006.
Henry is survived by his three children, Karen Aquino (husband, Bill) of Melbourne Beach, Florida, Christian Chamberlain (wife, Brenda) of Vineland, New Jersey, and Kevin Chamberlain (wife, Jaime) of Port St Lucie, Florida; five grandchildren, Justin, Stephen, Laura, Kasey, Sarah, Caden & Jaden, and Alexa; and three great grandchildren, Jonah, Kaylynn and Molly.
A Celebration of Henry’s life will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at Aycock Funeral Home in Stuart with a Memorial Service to begin at 2:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, FL 34997.
