The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Frank loved the Lord and followed him all through his life. He is embraced in the Lord’s arms and is walking the green pastures and loves the still waters.
Frank was born on April 7th, 1943, in Mineola, NY to Frank and June Van Leer, Sr. After Frank graduated from Northport High School in 1960, he then went on to study at Adelphi University, Garden City, NY for his BS and master’s degrees in education. He taught in Kings Park School district in middle school for 35 years. He was well loved as a teacher and many of his students, 50 years later, still called and updated him on their lives and on other students.
In 1960, Frank met Dona Geis on the first day of college. Frank and Dona were married on April 25, 1965. Frank is survived by his wife, Dona, of 58.5 years, his son, Frank L Van Leer, III and his wife Luann of Stuart, his daughter, Llona J. Van Leer of Patchogue, NY, his grandsons Frank P. Van Leer of Waxhaw, NC, Nicklaus A. Van Leer of Stuart, FL and his brother William (Bill) Van Leer of Northport, NY.
In 1998 Frank retired and readied the NY home for their move to Clover, SC in 2002. There he and his wife joined the Lions Club where many hours were donated to the community; and, of course, mostly to the school district carrying on his sense of “Teach the Children” they are our future.
Frank lived his Fr. Christmas role to the hilt for over 25 years. He volunteered his amazing resemblance to St. Nick and was able to make children from 1-90 years old believe.
