Words really can't describe the positivity that seemed to glow constantly around my nana. She always had a smile on her face, and was the first one to tell you with that same smile, "It could be worse". She truly held the amount of positive energy that others only dreamed of having, and that energy was infectious. It inspired everyone who ever laid eyes on her to embrace life for what it is, and to accept things even when they don't turn out the way you wanted them to. That last month of her living with us was a blessing. I was always afraid of her passing in the house, and when that phone rang an hour after we took her to the hospital, I already knew who it was and what it was for. It was a gut wrenching feeling like, "is this really it?". Later on when I left the hospital, I felt a sense of comfort. I knew that the chances of that happening to her for the only hour she had been at the hospital in a month were one in a million, and for the first time since she had gotten diagnosed I had felt that fate was on our side. I love you nana, you were one of my biggest inspirations in my life as well as so many others, and I will always cherish the times we had together, and strive to be as happy as you were. Rest in peace. (Her idea of peace is eating a rare ribeye followed by a hot fudge sundae!) :)

I loved my Aunt Eleanor. As a little boy, I remember getting very excited every time I got to see her at my grandparents' house in Elmsford or at her house there and in Armonk. I never saw her unhappy or complaining or depressed. Eleanor had a joy of living that was infectious.  I can only remember her smiling and laughing and making me laugh and being beautiful and elegant and stylish. I was so happy that after many years of not being able to see each other in person, she friended me on Facebook. What a joy to get a word of encouragement from her when I least expected it in these last years. I am happy that Aunt Eleanor was given a long and full life. Though she had to cope with so much tragedy, her strength and courage and sense of humor has been an inspiration to me and always will be. You will always be in my thoughts and in my heart.

I'm not a guest, I'm her daughter. There are not enough words to describe the love and affection I had for my mother. She was a gift, my sunshine, every day. I always dreaded the day she would pass. I remember when I was young, in the middle of the night coming into her room crying, and she said "what's the matter?" and I replied, "I don't ever want you to die". She was a wonderful homemaker and always greeted me with a smile since the day I can remember. I will always remember our special times together in NY... going into town and getting our favorite candy bar, going to the bakery, having a special time in the city and going to our favorite Chinese restaurant. Even just going to the grocery store. We spoke every day, sometimes about nothing, just to hear our voices. Mom moved in a month before she passed. We had the most wonderful time! It was an honor to have her and I am so fortunate to have been able to have that extra time with her. She would have her challah and coffee for breakfast, up until the day she passed. I always wondered what would happen after she was gone. I'm OK... I will survive and life goes on. But I credit her for how I am able to handle this, her bravery and realistic approach, and still, her sense of humor. I will always hear her laughter and see her smile. I love you mom and I miss you so.

My dear Aunt Ellie, thank you for sharing your joie de vivre! You are the original energizer bunny.  Whether raising children, designing, sewing, cooking, playing golf or just schmoozing - you did it all with guts and gusto. Always enjoyed being around you and sharing your hospitality and lively conversation. Yummy shrimp de jonghe and cheesecake!  There should be a national hot fudge sundae day just for you!

How lucky I was to have been fortunate enough to know this beautiful lady. Although I didn't know her long it sure didn't take long to adore her. From her sparkling personality to her strong will and quick wit, she sure touched me in a way  that made me feel I knew her my whole life!  This world will miss you Eleanor Simon!
Wish I had more time with you.

What a treat it was to reconnect with you, Ellie, such a short time ago!  I loved our conversations; I loved our laughter together, our sharing of family stories!  But, most of all I loved knowing we are family.  Your spirit continues through everyone who knew you and has shared your glorious energy.  I miss you.

Nothing was more fabulous then sharing a meal with Eleanor!  Always full of wonderful,  intelligent,  fun loving conversation. I learned a lot over bagels, I'll never forget! I'll miss you and think of you often.

Eleanor was a beautiful woman inside and out who raised four wonderful children. She taught them how to live and enjoy life while always keeping a positive attitude. She was a clear example of the kind of person we should all try to be. She will be greatly missed.

Eleanor, you were an amazing person with such an uplifting personality! You would always say something that made me smile or laugh. Your beautiful spirit will be missed.

Eleanor was a beautiful person, inside and out. She was always laughing and  smiling. Her kindness to me, for over half my life, will always be remembered fondly.

Rest in peace, beautiful Eleanor. You are dearly missed but will never be forgotten. So grateful to have known you and call you my friend.

Enjoy being reunited with you daughters though you will be tremendously missed here.  Rest in peace.  Your humor and life live on.
