Ed was born in New York, and lived there until leaving to serve in the Navy during the Korean Conflict in 1951. Upon discharge, he returned to Long Island, continued his trade as a plumber, (which he had been introduced to by the Navy) and eventually started his own plumbing business. He enjoyed shooting competitively with the Royal Mountain Rifle and Pistol Club.
In 1979, Ed and Lorraine moved to Florida where he bought a boat before even looking for a house, and worked throughout the state as a mechanical supervisor in the construction of several hospitals. Upon his retirement at age 70, he discovered an affinity for woodworking. His lovely jewelry boxes are treasured by their grateful recipients, as are the furniture and various other gifts he fashioned.
Ed is survived by his loving family: his wife of seventy years, Lorraine (nee Jasper) and his four children; Rev. Edward Grant (Susan), Dolores Grant, Michael Grant, and Lynda Grant Bentley (Rick); his six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, his brother Frank Grant, and his sister, Patricia Grant.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice Foundation.
