Dorothy "Dottie" H. Perez

Dorothy Heart Perez - Born August 4th 1933 in Astoria, New York passed away on July 27th 2016. She was a loving mother, caring grandmother, and friend to many. Dorothy married the love of her life, Joseph Paul Perez in July 1954, and shortly after they started a family in Astoria with two beautiful children, Karen and Kevin. They then moved to Matawan, NJ where they were active members of the community for 26 years. In 1989 they moved to Hutchinson Island, FL and Joseph passed away a year later. Dorothy took care of Kevin, her son with special needs and best friend for 25 years.

Dorothy had a passion for bowling, scored league highs, and dedicated 25 years of her life working as a Junior Bowling Director. She inspired others to do what they love to find happiness in life. Dorothy loved good food, spending time with her family, needlepoint, bingo, and bridge and mahjong. She always kept her mind sharp by starting every morning with a puzzle.

She found joy in the simple things, and was able to light up any room. Her smile and laugh will be missed. Dorothy now rests peacefully with her husband, Joseph Perez, and son, Kevin Perez. Survived by her daughter and son in law, Karen and Richard Lyon, and two grandchildren, Craig Lyon and Courtney Lyon.

A Celebration of Dottie's life will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 1:00PM-3:00PM with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 PM at Aycock Funeral Home, 505 South Federal Highway, Stuart, FL 34994.
