Donald Roger Cox MD

Donald Roger Cox, M.D., 74, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on September 18, 2021, after a short battle with cancer. Donald was born in Pennsylvania on October 22, 1946. He attended Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He graduated from University of Tennessee Medical School in 1972 and married Margo Janet Fields one week later. In 1973, he completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Miami. From 1973 to 1976, Donald completed a residency in dermatology at Temple University. He moved to Stuart, Florida in 1976 to start his medical practice. In a medical career that spanned more than 40 years, Dr. Cox epitomized the highest values of his beloved profession and the most beautiful ideals that encompass education, skill, service, compassion, and integrity. Donald was an avid fisherman who enjoyed traveling and he was a faithful member of several churches in Stuart where he served in music ministry by playing the trumpet. C.S. Lewis, an influential author in Donald's life, once stated, "I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else."

He is survived by his wife, Margo, of 49 years; 4 children; Kristen (Kenneth) Idle, Shannon (significant other, Patrick Byrne) Cox, Meghan (Jonathan) Borozzi, and Geoffrey (fiancé, Leah Tehranchi) Cox; 3 grandsons; Andrew Idle, Christopher Idle, and Christian Borozzi; 1 soon-to-be granddaughter, Juliet Borozzi; his sister, Barbara Merzig; his sister-in-law, Carol (Carl) Wirwa; his niece, Karenna (David) Rowenhorst; and his nephews, Matthew Merzig, John (Marianne) Merzig, Nick (Mary Helen) Wirwa, and Drew (Jamie) Wirwa. Donald was predeceased by his parents Roger and May Cox.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Aycock Funeral Home Young and Prill Chapel, 6801 SE Federal Highway, Stuart, Florida 34997. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, from 4 to 5 p.m. at Christ Fellowship Church, 10205 Pratt Whitney Road, Stuart, Florida 34997.
