Dianne Hale Spina, age 79, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away surrounded by family on June 26th in Stuart, FL. Born in Hartsville, SC, on March 21, 1944, to parents Bessie Hale and James Hale, Dianne spent most of her early childhood in Hartsville, SC. At age 13 her family moved to Shillington, PA where she spent most of her later childhood, graduating from Governor Mifflin High School in 1962 and later from Business School in Reading, PA. As a legal secretary she met her husband, Arno Seifart Spina. They married in the Catholic Church and raised a family of two girls in Shillington, PA. Dianne believed in community service and gave time to Junior League and other fundraising opportunities for local charities in the Reading area. In their years in Pennsylvania they enjoyed golf, hunting, boating and fishing. Arno and Dianne moved to Stuart, Florida in 1995 where they continued the pursuits they loved.
Art was very important to Dianne throughout her life. She enjoyed attending oil and watercolor classes, and shared her love of art with others by painting greeting cards for friends and family. Sadly, Arno passed away in Stuart in 2002 but Dianne remained living in the area surrounded by family and friends, continuing her passion for art and volunteering. Dianne served on the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity of Martin County 2007-2009. Additionally, she volunteered her time and energy to the Martin Arts Council, the Salvation Army and the Elliott Museum. She loved visiting the mountains of North Carolina in the summers, as she did with Arno. She has always remained very close with childhood friends and those she met along the way playing golf or while painting.
Dianne is predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Arno Seifart Spina, and her son, Arno Jr.. She is survived by two daughters: Patricia Spina of Greenacres, and Melissa Spina Zurich (Brett Zurich) of Stuart. She is also survived by grandchildren Merlin Spina Johnson, Julian Spina, and Dylan Zurich, as well as her sister Jo Beck (Charles Beck) of Orlando, FL. Dianne will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. They will carry on her legacy of devotion to family, service to community, and her love of nature and art.
Funeral Service for Dianne will be held on July 15, 2023, at 10AM at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Hobe Sound with a graveside service to follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Tequesta, FL.
