Carroll W. Erickson, 84, passed away Friday, March 6, 2020, in Stuart, Florida. He was born on November 2nd, 1935 in Beulah, North Dakota. He served in the Army at an air base in England for two years before returning to North Dakota. He graduated from Minot State College with an AA Degree in law enforcement and a BA Degree in Sociology as well as a MA Degree in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma. He was a graduate of the FBI Academy and the Highway Patrol Academy.
In 1959, Carroll began his law enforcement career with the Minot Police Department, starting as a Patrol Officer and ending his career as Chief of Police, a position he retired from in 1998. In 1998, Carroll was elected Mayor of the City of Minot and held that position for four years. In 2004 he was elected to the Ward County Commission and served in that position for eight years.
Carroll is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Beth (Charles) Barone of Suffern, NY and Kyla Shay (Gary Krosin) of Stuart, FL; two grandchildren, Christopher Shay IV of Chattanooga, TN and Caitlyn Klarmann (JJ) of Stuart, FL; one great grandchild McKenna; sisters Grace (Jay) McLane of Tarpon Springs, FL and Wanda (Charles) Gustafson of Dodge, ND; sisters-in-law Judy Erickson (deceased) and Elaine Schumaier of Beulah, ND; brother-in-law James (Joan) Schumaier of Beulah, ND; along with all of his nieces and nephews.
Carroll was preceded in death by his wife, Noreen, infant son, Brian and numerous family members.
Memorials are preferred to the Scandinavian Heritage Park, Minot, ND.
Memorial services are being planned for a later date.
