Born April 3, 1941 in Sebring, Florida, to Rev. Van and Gertrude Lightsey, she was raised in Okeechobee and had previously lived in Fort Pierce before relocating to the Stuart area in 1971. Her life centered around her family and friends that she loved very much. She always unselfishly, put her family and friend's needs in front of hers. Her acts of kindness, understanding and humbleness are irreplaceable. She will be forever missed.
She was a Sheet Metal Assembler at Turbo Combustion Technology in Stuart for 28 years, was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Christ Fellowship in Stuart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John V. “Butch”; sons, Jerry and Steve; parents, Rev. Van and Gertrude Lightsey; brothers, Lloyd and Johnnie; and sisters, Elizabeth and Joyce.
She is survived by her sons, John C. (Sue), Jim (Carmen), Joe and Jody (Carol); daughter, Gail (Glenn) Maltese; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Matthew Lightsey; special friends, Phyllis, Nora, Nona, Inez, and Sherrie; and many cousins, nieces and nephews mostly from Okeechobee and Stuart.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 10:00am-12:00pm with a memorial service officiated by Pastor Mike Thedford to begin at 11:00am at Aycock Funeral Home in Stuart, FL. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
