Eleonora Sewersky, age 86, of Stony Point, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2016, at the Joe Raso Hospice residence, New City, NY. Born in Germany on August 22, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Hedwig Koehler. She migrated to the US after World War II, met her husband, George, in the Bronx and married July 3, 1954 at Church of Saint Joseph Yorkville.
Eleonora was a former employee of International (Federal) Paper in Montvale, NJ. She enjoyed traveling, baking, sewing, needlepoint and especially spending time with children, grandchildren, family and friends. She was fondly known as Oma to all she knew and loved. She was famous for her intricately decorated cookies. Her strength was inspiring and she will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her dedicated husband George; son Rich Sewersky and daughter-in-law Sue Sewersky of Prescott Valley, AZ; daughter Lisa Petherbridge and son-in-law Phil Petherbridge of Southbury, CT; five grandchildren, Stephanie Smerglinolo of Shelton, CT, Kristen Caban of Manhattan, NY, Morgan Petherbridge of Jersey City, NJ, Alex Sewersky of San Antonio, TX and Jaime Petherbridge of Southbury, CT.
Family will receive friends at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 73 North Liberty Drive, Stony Point, NY on Tuesday October 25, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm and also 7pm to 9pm. Mass will be held Wednesday October 25, 2016 at 10am at Immaculate Conception Church, 26 John St, Stony Point followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY.
