Born to Trudy High and Bert Bedard in Westlock on Jan 9, 1948, Myrna was raised in North Central Edmonton alongside her brothers Gordon and Kim. She became a kind friend and lifelong companion to childhood neighbors, cousins, and many people she crossed paths with along her journey. Her reputation as a skirt hating, non-conformist was worn as a badge of honor. She grew into a real rebel without a cause!
After a respectable period of freedom and self-discovery Myrna was married to Bruce Myers in 1976. Her true calling in life was realized in the upbringing of her four children: Spencer, Erin, Heather, and Kiersten. She worked in several local customer service jobs and enjoyed getting to know the interesting people she encountered, so many of which she fondly remembered throughout the years.
Myrna had a keen interest in people, religion, reading and knitting. She also enjoyed poetry and a wide variety of music from classical and gospel to folk and jazz. She took immense joy in attending piano lessons into her sixties. Her most prized possession was her baby grand piano notwithstanding the occasional key-pounding tantrums she unleashed upon it.
Myrna spent her “silver years” surrounded by her six beautiful grandchildren and several grand-puppies. She was predeceased by her parents and stepdad, Ted High, as well as her brothers. She is survived by her husband and children along with her grandchildren: Oliver, Samantha, Sarah, Lincoln, Luke and Elliot. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Dee, her niece and nephew Troy and Niki and great nephew Jacob as well as countless others from her extended family and married side. She will forever be remembered as a spirited individual with a great sense of humor, a wonderful friend, and a loving mother, grandmother, and Aunty.
Donations can be made in Myrna's honour to the Alzheimers Society, 10531 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton AB, T5H 4K1.
A celebration of life for Myrna will be held Monday, September 18, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Parkland Funeral Services, 3502 44th Ave, Stony Plain, AB T7Z1L1.
