(nee DUNDAS)
It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Jane Gilchrist of Stony Plain, Alberta announces her sudden but peaceful passing on November 13, 2018.
Jane will be lovingly remembered by her dear husband of 55 years, Howard; daughter Betsy (Paul); sons Michael (Bonnie) and John (Lisa); her beloved grandchildren Zachary, Brady, Michaela, Ben, Gabby and Katia; and her brother Chris (Jean); Jane will also be missed by her extended family and many beautiful friends.
Jane was predeceased by her father Austin Allen Dundas and her mother Mary Dolena Dundas.
Jane was born in northern Ontario, and after high school graduation she attended the Toronto Western Hospital, School of Nursing, graduating in 1958. She specialized in the Neurology department, working as the head nurse. After her children were born, Jane stayed home to raise them, then entered the real estate business in 1983, and retired completely in 2000, after a very successful career. She continued to be very active in volunteering, the arts, participating in her community, and her passion for knitting. Everyone who knew Jane, appreciated her straightforward and kind approach to dealing with life and those around her. She was a gentle person, who cared deeply about others, forming strong relationships with all. Jane and Howie had lots of opportunity to travel, which she enjoyed immensely; however her heart always remained at the farm in Stony Plain. She will be profoundly missed by her family and her community of friends; however a piece of her remains in all of us.
A celebration of life event will be held at the Heritage Pavilion, 5100 – 41 AVE, Stony Plain, AB, on the 6th of December, 2018 at 2 pm. There will be light refreshments available after for family and friends to gather, because that is exactly what Jane would want. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes any donations be directed to the charities Jane supported: The Liver Foundation, The Kidney Foundation, and the Stony Plain Hospital.
Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories
