Dwight leaves behind to mourn him three children: Nadine (Jarrod Peters), Darryl (Anna), Curtis. Seven grandchildren: Jillian (Andrew Graham), Garrick (Elise), Jade, Jodee (Jarrett Bennett), Nathan (McKenzie), Alex and Cameron. He also leaves behind eight great grandchildren: Dwight, Clarette and Valeda Graham , Rhett and Rubee Bennett, Addison and Ellery Nora Rutherford and Miriam Callihoo. He loved all his great grandchildren around him.
Dwight loved everything life had to offer and felt happiest when his hands were busy, whether that was cooking for the family or working in his yard. He loved to fish, hunt, bike, camp, boat, sled, and work on his tractor. He was never shy about trying new things during his extensive travels all over the world, but what he loved most of all was his wife and family.
He was always competitive during annual family games or horse shoe or horse balls. Even if he didn’t win the game, he spoke as if he had won!
Dwight Rutherford passed away on September 29, 2021, on the Feast of the Archangels. His wife and daughter Nadine held his hands and said the Divine Mercy over Dwight as he went to his great reward. Dwight was a man of incredible strength and underwent years of undiagnosed COPD. When he was finally diagnosed with a COPD attack on Friday, September 3rd, the doctors said that he had years of ongoing damage to his lungs. His high pain tolerance kept him going for many years as the captain of his ship. Dwight died during his favorite time of year, when the leaves start to turn color and the bustle of hunting season begins.
He was the rock of our family. He was dependable and loved to help his family even before being asked. He loved his parents, sisters, brothers, in-laws and his many hunting buddies. As many passed, he was deeply saddened. But now that he’s passed he will join them in heaven.
Dwight was a great gift from Almighty God. We are comforted to know that through his final sufferings, Dwight has earned sweet victory in Christ Our Lord.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
