Tony left home at an early age to start working in sawmills. He soon became a sawyer, eventually graduating to electric mills. Tony started his career sawing for Caroll Brothers west of Winfield. Tony and Barb lived there for 7 years where they enjoyed the company of many good friends as the employees all lived in the same camp. When they left Winfield to move to Obed they had 2 children.
The move to Obed saw Tony graduating from running a steam sawmill to an electric sawmill. Tony was a very skilled sawyer and had many job offers over the years.
From Obed, the family, which now included 3 children, moved to Whitecourt for a short period of time.
In 1962, the decision was made to settle on their own land and a farm in the Chip Lake area was purchased. That same year the house was built which remained the family home for the next 43 years.
Their last child was born while living on the farm. Tony continued to work in central Alberta for various sawmills while also farming.
In 2005, at the age of 75, they decided to retire. The farm was sold and they moved to the Town of Onoway. A new home was built and Tony spent his time looking after the yard and gardening.
Tony loved his family and the years in Onoway were spent with family and friends.
