Thomas G. Woolley passed away on Saturday November 25th, 2023 at home with his wife Jean Woolley, in Escalon, California. He was 87 years old. Tom was the youngest of 5 brothers, born in Tucson, Arizona on May 10th, 1936 to Luetta May Carey (Sydney, Ohio) and James Milton Woolley (Bloomfield, Ohio).
Tom lived for many years in Los Angeles and had three children, Carlene, Deanna and Michael. He began drag racing while working for The Times Mirror newspaper, and eventually Tom's new found love of racing became his priority. He worked for Sears as a buyer for many years and then moved to Escalon, California where he worked for Luprino foods for 17 years.
As a drag racer he was sponsored by A & W, he also raced speed boats and fixed up his Uncle's 1951 Mercury.
He met Jean Brodie in 1994 and they married in 1999. They spent 23 happy years together, making a home in Escalon, traveling the United States, collecting classic cars, antique slot machines and Flying A memorabilia.
Tom had a great circle of loyal and kind friends, whom he would get together with at Drag races in Pomona, Sonoma and Bakersfield and car shows all over California, and while travelling across the United States with Jean in their RV.
He was loved and is greatly missed by his wife, Jean, his children Carlene, Deanna, Michael, his step daughter Tammie, his grandchildren Drew, Logan, Jake, Hannah, Lily, Fiachra, Willow, Lydon, and his great-grandchild Linné.
Friends and family welcome to a visitation on Wednesday December 6, 2023, from 12-4pm at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in mid-May of 2024.
