Rose Marie Guerrero passed away on May 30, 2022 in Stockton, California. Rose was born in 1934 in Hughson, California to Jezuino and Emilia Baptista, originally of Corvo, Azores, the youngest of three children (preceeded in death by Antonio (Tony) and Walter Baptista).
Rose graduated from San Jose State University where she met her late husband of 61 years, Miguel Guerrero. She loved children and her teaching career focused on elementary school grades and providing home instruction.
Family and community were of utmost importance to Rose, and her caring, thoughtful nature was a gift to all who were fortunate to know her. Her children and grandchildren brought her great joy, and she celebrated their accomplishments.
She felt a strong connection to her Portuguese heritage, participated in festas and proudly served as Queen as a young woman. Her research in genealogy later in life revealed a greater range of relatives that she welcomed into her family.
Rose leaves behind her children Michele and Steven Guerrero, grandchildren, Dominic and Mackenzie Rossi, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Great appreciation is given to caregivers Linda Fernandez, Raquel Medina, Gloria Dilka, Maria Andrade, and Inise Naicegucegu.
A private service will be limited to immediate family. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to charity of choice in Rose’s honor or to Hospice of San Joaquin.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.deyoungshorelinechapel.com for the Guerrero family.
You have slipped away with your grace and kindness strength and wisdom encouragement and love, an amazing woman. . .
And, yet, even through my sadness my tears and grief, it seems impossible that you are gone.
Perhaps that is what happens when someone's wonderful presence is so strong that it continues to grace us and encourage and guide us and make us feel so special and so loved,
So that our tears wash away the road before us, a road without you by our sides, or perhaps not. . .
Perhaps you are still with us as we walk along the paths of our own lives,
So very grateful for yours and for you.
