May Sumiye Hirota, 90, of Stockton, passed away on October 28, 2017 in Stockton, CA. She was born on May 5, 1927 in Stockton, CA to her parents Magosuke and Kikuye Kamibayashi. In addition to her parents, May is preceded in death by her sister Kimi Horita, her brothers Frank Kamibayashi, Ted Kamibayashi, Sam Kamibayashi and her loving husband Akira Hirota. She is survived by her daughter Carol S. Hirota, son Mitchell A. Hirota (Yvonne) and grandchildren Tyler Hirota and Lauren Hirota and many nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces.
May graduated from high school at Rohwer Internment Camp in Arkansas. After her retirement as a bookkeeper at New Star Market and Higashi & Son Produce, May was an avid reader, SF Giants fan as well as “caregiver” and “cheerleader” for all of her family.
May will be remembered as a caring, generous and loving wife, mother, auntie, grandmother and friend to her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017, at the Buddhist Church of Stockton, 2820 Shimizu Drive, Stockton, CA 95203 at 2:30 p.m.
