4, 2021. Mary was a wife, mother of 10, grandmother of 24, great grandmother of 34, and great-great-grandmother of 3. She was born June 6, 1931, in Santa Rita, New Mexico, to Maria Inez Calderon and Policarpio Lucero Marquez. She was one of 12 children. She will be sorely missed and survived by her sister Maggie M. Velasquez and children: Carol Pimentel, Dorothy Hoel, Mellissa Ybarra, Christine Marchesotti, Donald Tafoya, William Tafoya, and Mary Guardado.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Reydecel Tafoya, eldest son David Tafoya, her two daughters Rose Tafoya and Teresa Lopez, and her siblings, Narcissa Hernandez, Estanislado Marquez, Cruz Jurado, Felix Marquez, Dominga Marquez, Margarita Marquez, Ramon Marquez, Frank Marquez, Mike Marquez, and Juanita Marquez.
Mary was best known for her love of her family, friends, multiple charities, and all casinos. Mary visited every casino she could and had a wonderful tradition of taking her grandchildren to a casino on their 18th birthday.
A viewing is scheduled at De Young Memorial Chapel in Stockton, CA. on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 11 am to 3 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Presentation on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 10 am with a committal to follow at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
