Mary Goforth

Sept. 12, 1925 - Mar. 29, 2015

Mary passed away March 29, 2015 at home surrounded

by family. She was born in Stockton on September 12, 1925

to Italian immigrants Antonio and Guiseffina (Gardella) Cogorno,

in Stockton, California who

preceded her in death. She married Bobby Goforth in 1960 and

enjoyed life with him until

he passed away in 1986.

Mary is survived by her loving, grateful children, Joanne (Goforth)

Green and Robert (Bobby) Goforth. She is also loved dearly by her

granddaughter, Christina (Andy Cookston) Goforth, her grandson

Bobby (Boo) Goforth Jr. and her great grandson, A.J. Cookston, her

'chosen' daughters, Robin Batterton and Linda Hansen, her ever

faithful buddy, co-hort and son in law Jerry Green, and numerous

nieces and nephews, friends and co-workers.

Mary was the 7th child of

9 children who all predeceased her, include brothers Dave Olcese,

Vittorio (Vic) Cogorno, John (Jimmie) Cogorno,

Andrew Cogorno and sisters, Louise Woodward, Adeline Traverso,

Angie Anselmi,&Sarah Frazier.Mary was first and foremost a mother.

To all. She loved her children deeply and that love was enough to share

with friends, co-workers, patients and anyone else that God brought into

her life. She was a born caregiver, which made her the best nurse around.

Her nursing profession began when she was capped on January 22, 1955

and continued until she was 79 years of age. It was a profession that she

was called to and even to the point of 'attending' nursing meetings at

Creekside Care when announced over the intercom!

Mary also was a child care provider for a number of years while taking a

break from nursing to raise her own children. She loved the ocean which

she visited regularly with her dear friend, Jeanne Rich, and with her own family.

Mom spent the last 18 months at Creekside Care Center and was blessed by

those who graciously took care of her. She was known and loved by all

members of the staff, from maintenance to the Director and by her roommate

and latest 'bestie' Virginia McDaniels.

A celebration in honor of her life will be held Friday, April 3, 2015 at 10:00 at

De Young Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to
