Mary Elizabeth Crow was born in Marion, VA on May 8, 1933 to a family of seven girls. She received her Nursing School Diploma in Portsmouth, VA, and became a Registered Nurse in 1954. She worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital for two years before joining the U.S. Navy in San Diego, CA for a two-year tour of duty attaining the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade.
She then married Michael Crow in 1958. Their only child, David, was born in 1963. The family then lived in Australia for one year when David was four.
Mary worked as R.N. in various states for 39 years. In 1978, she moved to Gresham, OR, where she worked as an I.V. therapist for 15 years at Mt. Hood Medical Center. She retired in 1993, but continued working as a licensed electrologist until she finally retired in 1995.
As a young woman, Mary became a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Later, she was converted and joined several Protestant Churches. On January 2, 2000, she was received into membership by First Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Portland, OR. In 2017, she moved from Gresham to Manteca, CA. She then joined Zion United Reformed Church in Ripon, CA on December 10, 2017.
Mary is survived by her son David and daughter-in-law Irma of Concord, CA; and sisters Doris Cox-Browne, Betty Cox-Fowler, and Donna Cox-Vick, all of VA. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Virginia Cox of VA, Louise Cox-Parks of MI, and Sara Cox-Wetherbee
of CA.
