Kathy (Breneman) Gilmore was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, on November 26, 1950, and peacefully passed away at home on July 15, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nellie and Guy Breneman, brother David and sister Linda.
Kathy graduated from Stagg High School in 1968. She married James “Rick” Gilmore June 14, 1969, and they welcomed their first child, Gary, the next year. Christine and Jennifer followed shortly thereafter. Kathy and Rick were married for 55 years.
Kathy worked at Cost Plus Beauty Supply and AT&T before retiring from San Joaquin General Hospital after being there for over 20 years. She was a member of Central Church of Christ. Kathy was a strong, intelligent woman who took no crap from anyone. She was known for her vivacious laugh and sense of humor. She loved babies and often left her lipstick on any baby she got ahold of. Kathy and Rick made it a point to take family vacations every year as the kids grew up and loved going on vacations that later included the grandkids. The family loved going to Nana and Papa’s for some home-cooked meals. Kathy was a fabulous cook.
In 2013, Kathy was able to locate her birth family through Ancestry.com and Facebook. This gave her more family to engage with and visit. She loved spending time with her Ohio and Virginia families and flew to the Midwest every couple of years until she could no longer travel due to her dementia. She will be missed by her aunt, sisters, brother and cousins.
Kathy leaves to mourn her husband, Rick Gilmore, son Gary Gilmore, daughters Christine (Brian) Palm and Jennifer (Ray) Bicknell, grandkids Lindsey (James) Dyson, Ashley (Casey) Mattson, Brianne (Thomas) Davis, Cody Palm, Kaela Gilmore, Tayler Nelson, Chase Palm, Justine Bicknell, and Bryce Bicknell, and great grandkids Andrew, Alani, Maverick, and Easton. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Carolyn (Jack) Hairston, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give thanks to her niece Roni, Prohealth Home Care (hospice) and Home Instead, especially Kim, for their care and support.
A celebration of life will be held on August 3, 2024, at 11:00 am at Central Church of Christ, 4799 East Foppiano Lane, Stockton, CA 95212.
