Joseph L. Maldonado, 87, of Stockton, passed away comfortably at home from natural causes, the morning of January 16, 2019. Joseph was born on September 15, 1931 to the late Maria Jesus Lopez and Augustine Maldonado, both of Mexico. Joseph is survived by his son Robert (Kathy), his daughters Ramona, Jodie (Tony) and Lisa (Kent). His granddaughters, Ashley, Courtney and Natalie and his grandson Ethan. He is also survived by his great-grandson Noah and great-granddaughter McKenna. Joseph is also survived by his brothers Alvin, Frank (Deborah) and sister Delores. Joseph was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years Beatrice, his son Joseph Jr, his grandson Robert, and his great grandson Benicio. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Jess, Michael, Augustine Jr., and his sisters Angela, Josephine, Lucille, Ramalda, Esther, and Mary.
Joseph attended Roosevelt Elementary School, Stockton High School and San Joaquin Delta College. Joseph was proud to have been a Union Member of the Local 601 for 55 years, beginning his career at Richmond Chase, then moving to California Canners and Growers and ending his career as a Hydraulic Mechanic at Tri Valley Growers in Thornton. Joseph was also a successful real estate investor having numerous multi-unit properties. He was proud of his hard work and dedication with his properties so as to provide his family with a comfortable lifestyle. Joseph was known as Mr. Handyman to all those that knew him. He could fix or build just about anything and was more than happy to share his skills and talents with all those around him. Joseph was also known as Papa Joe to all his grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as all their friends. Everyone was always welcomed at his house with love, good food and a lesson in life. In his spare time Joseph loved to play his guitar, collect coins, organize his garage and tools, and spend time with his family and friends.
