Jose M. Guzman was a lifetime resident of Stockton, CA. He was born on January 11, 1930 and passed away on July 24, 2016 at the age of 86. He graduated from Edison High School. After high school he volunteered for the Korean War. While serving in the Army he received 1 bronze star and 2 Purple Hearts at Old Baldy. Jose was 90% disabled when he was honorably discharged from the Army on November 30, 1952. After being discharged Jose worked as a Psychiatic Technician at the State Hospital for 26 years before retiring. Some of Jose's favorite things were gambling at Jackson, Red Hawk, Thunder Valley, and Reno Casinos he also enjoyed cooking for the holiday feasts and he was a coach for HTLL. Jose is preceded in death by mother Modesta, sister Esther, and soulmate Mary. He is survived by his sister Consuelo, children Nina Flores (Greg), Carol Madrid (Bob), Andrew Guzman (Denise), Aaron Guzman (Barbara), countless grandchildren, and great grandchildren. DeYoung Memorial Chapel has been honored to serve the Guzman family. Viewing will be Monday, August 1, 2016 at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St. from 9-11 am followed by a Chapel service at 11 am. Committal to follow at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
