Jennie was born in Jerome, Arizona on August 20, 1925 to Juana (nee Montez) and Onofre Grijalva. She was the 4th of 9 children. Her father worked in the copper mines in the Jerome area. After the copper mines were depleted of economic value, the family moved west, lived in Amador County briefly before eventually settling in Stockton. She was eight years old. As with many Mexican families of that time, the family worked in the agricultural fields of the central valley. She attended Hazelton School, where she was an excellent student. Unfortunately, her parents took her out of school after the eighth grade and had her work full-time with them in the fields. It was while working in the fields that she met her future husband, Antonio Flores. She was sixteen when they married. They lived in Stockton where they raised eleven children. They were together for 20 years, until his passing in 1960. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing, at which she was very good. In her later years, she worked at California Cedar Company, until her retirement in 1984. After retirement, she enjoyed going to bingo and playing the slot machines in Reno and other local casinos. She passed away peacefully at her home in Manteca, on Mother's Day, with her loving family by her side. Jennie was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandma, great grandma and great-great grandma. She is survived by her sister Mary Jimenez, brother Raymond Grijalva, her children Linda Flores, Cruz Oropeza, Rosie Martin, Mary Castellanos, Richard Flores, Carolyn Valdez and Yvonne Khan, and 44 grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. She is predeceased in death by her husband, Antonio, her children Theresa Saenz, Antonio ("Tony") P. Flores, David Flores (1st), Frederick ("Freddie") G. Flores and David Flores (2nd), grandson Jess Saenz, and her brothers and sisters, Jessie Grijalva, Ramona Grijalva, Inez Karim, Leo Supnet, Joe Valenzuela and Maggie Alonzo.
