On Monday, January 21, 2019, Frances Halley a lifelong resident of Stockton, peacefully passed away at the age of 95. Frances was born on December 26, 1923 in Sutter Creek, Calif, to the parents of Emma and Virgilio Perondi, of Montecatini Terme, Italy. She grew up in Sutter Creek and Stockton, attending St. Mary's and graduating from Stockton High. She married Livio Mandolati and moved to Italy, living there for two years. Together they had two daughters. Later in life she married Elton (Dutch) Halley and they had two sons.
Frances is preceded in death by her husband Elton (Dutch) Halley and beloved son, Michael V. Halley. Loving mother of, Juliana Midwin (George), of San Jose. Tina Rouse and Elton P. Halley III, of Stockton. Grandmother of George Michael Midwin (Carrie) and Nicole Frances Midwin of San Jose; Harold Rouse Jr., Kira Brooks Halley and Chaz Halley of Stockton. Great grandmother of Zoey Midwin-Shields of Australia and Ryan George Midwin of San Jose. Special mother to Orlondo (Lon) Perondi of Stockton and Danny Wilser of Oregon.
Frances was a devote Catholic, a Third Order Carmelite, member of Sacro Costato and Legion of Mary. In addition she belonged to numerous other religious organizations and a supportive parishioner of St. Luke's Church and school for over 60 years. She also enjoyed being a member of various clubs and in particular The Red Hat Ladies Society, 40’s Club, and Daughters of California, Italian Catholic Federation, and volunteered at St Joseph Hospital for over 20 years. Frances enjoyed traveling to her beloved Italy, visiting relatives and old friends, as well as traveling around America enjoying a number of National Parks and states. She enjoyed music, especially playing the accordion, dancing, and singing Italian songs. In younger years she was an avid tennis player. “Lady Door Knob” was a CB’er for many years. Having lived on a ranch as a child, Frances developed her compassion for the caring of animals and gardening. Frances was hard working, a dependable and reliable friend, spiritual mentor, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Frances will be greatly missed. She leaves a legacy of charity, hope and compassion to be exemplified.
Public viewing at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton, from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 2019, followed by Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the chapel, reception after at DeYoung Memorial Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 3847 N. Sutter St., Stockton. Interment to follow at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, with reception at St. Luke’s Catholic Church parish hall.
