Frances E. Contreras

Frances E. Contreras, 92, passed away peacefully in Clovis, CA on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. She was born on May 6, 1924 in Stockton, CA. Frances was preceded in death by husband Rafael “Ray” Contreras, siblings Evelyn Valverde, Margaret Alvarez, Clara Valverde, Stella Romo, and Marshall Lujan. She is survived by her children: Patricia Franco (Isaias) Marshall Contreras (Nancy), grandchildren: Leondina Garrett, Anthony Contreras, Andrew Contreras, Michael Contreras, Andrea Franco, Isaias Franco Jr, Adriana Franco, great grandchildren: Adriana, Veronica, Andrew, Vicente, Raphaella, Alexander, Marcelo, and Mateo as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives. Frances was a Spanish language Interpreter for the Superior Court of California for several years before retiring. She enjoyed family gatherings and traveling. Frances was a member of many organizations such as Las Teresita’s, Legion of Mary, the Fine Arts Society, Nielsen ratings consumer panel and President of the Altar Society. She was also a key member for the establishment of St. George's Catholic Church. Frances is well loved for her devotion to her family and leaves us with many wonderful memories throughout her life. DeYoung Memorial Chapel has been honored to serve the Contreras family. Visitations will be held at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St. on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 2 pm to 6 pm and Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 10 am to 6 pm followed by a Rosary at 6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 10 am at Church of the Presentation 1515 W. Benjamin Holt Stockton, CA 95207 followed by a committal at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery.
