Floyd Martinez, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully February 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 80 years young and lived a happy fulfilling life.
Floyd was born in French Camp, CA to Placida and Reginald Martinez on July 10, 1943. He was the third of 5 children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Felicitas (Sheena), his son Floyd Martinez (Barney), and his siblings Perfie Ramirez, Joanne Arce, Victor Martinez.
Floyd grew up in Stockton and graduated from Edison High School in 1961. At the age of 21, he started working for Stockton Unified School District as a Custodian at Amos Alonzo Stagg High School. He worked at Stagg High School for 45 years before retiring in 2009. He was proud to have worked at one school his whole working career and even bragged about meeting Mr. Amos Alonzo Stagg himself.
Floyd is survived by his loving children David Martinez, Shelley Martinez, and Step-Daughter Lillian Randle (Steven). Floyd also leaves behind his sibling Manuel Martinez, 12 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Floyd was a fun, loving, caring and funny person. He often told the best one-liners that would bring a chuckle or smile to anyone’s face. He was truly loved and will be missed dearly.
A rosary for Floyd will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church, 1663 E. Main Street, Stockton, California. A Memorial Mass will occur Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 10:30 AM, 1663 E. Main Street, Stockton, California. An inurnment will occur Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery, 719 E. Harding Way, Stockton, California.
