Esther was born to John B. and Esther Mendoza on September 17, 1935 in French Camp, CA. She attended Edison High School in 1949. After leaving high school she began a life long journey working many jobs in agriculture. From 1974-79 she was a Supervisor for a local labor contractor enjoying her time assisting local farmers and recruiting field workers. In 1980 Esther worked for the EDD as a filing clerk and in the same year she also worked for the Council for the Spanish Speaking as a Supervisor. In 1982-85 she worked as a Nurse’s Aid at the San Joaquin County of Human Services. Shortly after she attended Woodruff Regional Occupation Center to achieve a certification making certified to retain a job with the Stockton Unified School District as a Clerk Typist from 1986-87. Esther continued her work as a school bus driver for Dave’s Transportation Services from 1991-93.
She enjoyed sharing her beautiful stories with anyone that gave her an opportunity and a listening ear. Esther lived her life to the fullest with her family, her boys and most of all her grandkids. Those who knew her had the opportunity to see her love for everyone and everything. She was a devoted mother, sister and grandmother who would whip up a good meal to feed you the minute you stepped foot in her home. Esther had the most generous, loving heart and touched many lives with her presence. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Esther Mendoza, husband John Perez, sister Rachel Soto, and brothers Ernie, Mike and Richard Mendoza, and her son John Perez.
Esther is survived by her children Rudy Perez, Rocco Perez and Tony Gomez; her brothers John, Alfonzo, and Victor Mendoza; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Her celebration of life will begin with a Rosary on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 6:00 PM at DeYoung Memorial Chapel located at 601 North California Street, Stockton, CA. A Catholic Mass will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Saint George’s Catholic Church located at 144 W. 5th Street, Stockton, CA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate our loving Esther’s life.
