I knew Ben from the local military shows,
 and always enjoyed his stories about
 flags, especially the 9/11 flag story. 
 I have not seen Ben in several years, 
but sorry to hear of his passing - a loss
to the collecting world.

Heartfelt condolences to Ben's family in this time of sadness.  

Ben was "old school"  and a giant among men.  He was a true scholar and curator of the artifacts of history- willing to share his knowledge over and over again with anyone willing to listen. His knowledge of flags was second to none.  We emailed and spoke many times and  he helped me with many aspects of my own book, from concepts to quotes.  He would always just send me some random photocopy of information that he found if he thought it would be of help. I know that if there are flags and pole tops in heaven, Ben has already acquired one.  Rest in Peace my friend, you will be missed. :'''(

I never knew Ben in person...But I always looked forward to learning more and more about collecting flags from him and any new information he would share online.
His wealth of knowledge will live on and will spark interest in many collectors for years and years to come.

I am sadden by the lost of my  long time collector friend .We go back all the way before emails and we did many USPS  exchange of hand written letters . Good bye to my friend .

Dear family of Ben, though I did not have a personal friendship with Ben I very much followed his postings and contributions to help others on the WA Forum.  Many people benefited from his frequent contributions of a lifetime of knowledge that will not be lost with his passing, and for this, speaking as a retired teacher, I am most thankful.   People who are interested in flags and history and collecting from around the world will have the benefit of reading his words and seeing his posted examples in the future.  Though it might not seem like much to some he remains a shining example of a fine, helpful human who has many thankful friends for his kind and considerate spirit of helping educate others simply because he desired to.  God bless him  and you his family!

I will always be thankful that I had the opportunity to get to know Ben and to call him a friend. I will cherish his memory for years to come. He was always helpful and would share his knowledge with anyone who asked, he will be missed by many people in the collecting field that he was a part of.
