Arlene May Venarde, 90, passed away July 4, 2014 in Stockton. Arlene was born in Hayward, California to Arnold and Agnes Morris on August 31, 1923. She was raised in Manteca, California, where she graduated high school. She went on to be top of her class at Maud Cornwell Secretarial School in Stockton, where she studied secretarial courses, general office courses and bookkeeping. She worked as a secretary to the Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Tracy, California for several years and did secretarial and bookkeeping work for various companies over the years. Arlene was active in P.T.A., served as treasurer and was a room mother for seven years. She was also a Red Cross volunteer for the School Clinic and served as a 4-H leader for four years, for which she received a plaque for outstanding service. Arlene was a member of Order of Eastern Star for over 30 years as well as a member of International Toastmistresses. She was also a heavily active member of ABWA. Arlene's hobbies included playing bridge, sewing, reading and gardening. Arlene was preceded in death by her father, Arnold Morris, her mother, Agnes Morris, her sister, Frances Gail Springer and her two spouses, Walter Robert Walker and Dominick Venarde. She is survived by her daughters, Marjorie Rife of Stockton and Ruth Walker of Santa Cruz and her grandchildren, Lauren Rife and Katherine Rife. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to ASPCA. A graveside service for Arlene will be held Friday, 7/11/2014 at 2:30pm Parkview Cemetery 3661 E. French Camp Rd. Manteca CA.
