Wayne Stokes was born on January 22, 1953 to Ed Stokes and Lucy Jo Stokes.
Wayne had a unique sense of humor that was rough around the edges but found in the center. He was a gardener and made beautiful things grow. He created magical gardens and loved being outside.
He had a great taste in music and movies that spanned an eclectic range of genres. Wayne also played organ and piano. He could hear a tune and match the sound precisely.
Wayne loved God and church. He was also a lover of animals. He absolutely adored his dog “Rico.” They were best buds.
He was mover and did not like to sit still or be stagnant. He loved designer clothes and the best things in life, but towards the end of his life material things did not matter anymore.
Wayne was a great cook and loved trying new recipes and perfecting the old recipes. Nevertheless, with all of that, he most loved being in the funeral business and always talked about being fortunate to know his true calling young and without any doubt.
His parents, Ed Stokes and Lucy Jo Stokes, preceded him in death.
Wayne Stokes departed this life on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. His life will forever be honored and cherished by his loving children, Celena Townsend, Cara Stokes-Estes and Christopher Stokes. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Dixon; brother, Frank Stokes; sister-in-law, Myra Stokes; other relatives and family friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 2PM at Horis A. Ward Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
