Roy T. Smith

Mr. Roy T. Smith age 90, of Atlanta ( Dekalb County ) passed away Wednesday, May 25th. Mr. Smith was a WW II veteran who last month made the trip to Washington, D.C. to see the WW II monument. While serving in France he received the Bronze Star. He was also a member of the civilian conservation corp. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 4th at the New Testament Baptist Church in Ellenwood at 1:00 pm with Pastor Fred Tag officiating. Interment will be concluded with military honors in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville, Ga. He is survived by 3 children; Terry and Diane Smith, Donna Sue Smith Bowles and Wendy Claire Smith. 5 grandchildren; Ronnie, Randy Smith, Claire Bowles, Vinson & Crystal Bowles and Joanna Burke.5 great grandchildren; Terry and Natalie Smith, Allen and Todd Bowles and Vinson Burke. 1 great great grandchild; Loreli Smith. 1 sister; Ursal Smith and sons Taylor and Winfred Kirk, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday June 3rd from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the disable veterans fund or to the New Testament Baptist Church mission fund. Horis A. Ward-Fairview Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
