Ronnie was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up there. While in high school, he met the love of his life, Gwendolyn Crane. They married, and after graduation, Ronnie joined the United States Army, where he served three years. He began his career with Southern Bell and after 25 years, he went to work for ValuJet, later named AirTran. Ronnie was an avid reader and a Nascar lover.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Jones and Mary Anderson Jones; wife, Gwendolyn Lorraine Crane and brother, Carl Jones.
Ronnie is survived by his daughters, Machelle Jones and Rhonda (Eric) Kimbrell; brothers, Larry (Peggy) Jones, Steve (Judy) Jones and Herbie (Geri) Jones; sister-in-law, Jean (Ken) Kerce; granddaughter, Courtney Jones (Alex Flores) and grandson, Zachary Kimbrell.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Mt. Carmel Assisted Living staff for taking such good care of Ronnie since March 2018. Also, much appreciation goes to Sacred Journey Hospice for their excellent care since March 2020.
A private graveside service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Veteran's Administration.
