Born February 6, 1945 in Salisbury, North Carolina, he was the son of Frank Henry Shoaf and Thelma Goff Shoaf.
A graduate of Fulton High School in 1963, he excelled in baseball and basketball and was an avid sports fan all his life. He was considered by most to be a jack of all trades and, whether an engine or a house, was happiest when he was building something with his hands. Bernard served in the United States Marine Corps before beginning a dedicated career as a Millwright with General Motors.
He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Stockbridge, Georgia and, in retirement, embraced several opportunities to serve and support the people of Honduras through mission trips with the church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Haskell Shoaf; and sister, Shellie Shoaf Suggs. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Joshua (Amy) Shoaf; daughter, Emily (Richard) Sajdak; grandchild, Addalyn Marie Shoaf; sister, Wanda (Keith) Johnson; as well as an abundance of family members and lifelong friends.
