Phil Landis Allen, born March 13, 1944, died April 11, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Geraldine Allen (58 years married); his parents, Winifred Allen and George Washington Wiggins Allen; his four other brothers, Jimmy, Sammy, Wayne, and Maurice Allen of Rex, Georgia. He is survived by his only child, Phillip Keith Allen & Faith Allen (Daughter-In-Law) of Fayetteville, Georgia; his oldest granddaughter, Ashley Hutcherson & Thomas Hutcherson (Husband); youngest granddaughter, Tara Allen; great-granddaughters, Lillian and Ava Trumpour of Newnan, Georgia and great-grandson, Eli Brake of Peachtree City, Georgia; as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
Phil lived in a time when men were raised to value strength, southern traditions, and family. This was a time when people honored their parents and were untouched by the corruptions of the world. An innocent time. Where it was understood “takes a village to raise ‘em” and you visited your grandparents every Sunday. Apart from his freely given statements of gratitude, displays of emotion were rare, so when Phil would show his emotions they were warm and genuine and sincere. He had this random chuckle that would leave his mouth and it was refreshing to get a glimpse into how his humor was incited by some intellectual trigger. In others words something tickled his fancy.
Phil was a storyteller. He knew how to add just the right amount of detail and just enough humor to have you captivated and hanging on his every word. He was routined; newspapers and coffee in the morning, groceries on the same day of the week, creased pants, always. His appearance mattered and he did his best to make sure he looked put together.
He had a deep love for music. He was a musician and had clear ear for rhythm. Sitting in his living room listening to him play guitar and sing really taught his family how to sing and appreciate music. He wasn’t always a homebody. He would often take the love of his life dancing in the barn with friends.
Phil was a devoted and consistent man. He was married for 58 years to Geraldine Allen and worked night shift for 25 of those years. He had a keen sense of judgement, was a strategic thinker, and boldly outspoken. These qualities earned him numerous commendation during his 25 years as a Clayton County Police Officer.

Visitation for Phil will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM in The Heritage Suite at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA 30281.
A Celebration of Life for Phil Allen will occur on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 in The Fairview Suite at 11:00 AM, with Interment immediately following in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
