Miyoshi La'Shannon Adams Lanier, a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on April 12, 2024. Born on November 7, 1976, at Augusta University Medical Hospital in Augusta, Georgia, Miyoshi was a loving presence in the lives of those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Knight; daughter, Anntavius Walker and brother, Chaves Maurice Fisher.
Miyoshi's life was a testament to her strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to her loved ones. She served with distinction in the military for 23 years, retiring as a Sergeant. Her service earned her the Army Commendation Medal, Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal as a testament to her bravery and sacrifice. In addition to her military service, Miyoshi dedicated 23 years of her life to her work at the IRS.
Miyoshi's legacy will endure through the lives she touched and the memories she created. She was a cherished wife to Wallace Lanier, Jr. for 21 years and a devoted mother to Mai'Asia Simone Lanier, Marquise Lanier, and Ja'Quan Peeples. She was a loving daughter to her mothers, Elease Adams Smith and Cynthia Adams, to her mother-in-law, Debra Lanier, and to her stepfather, Sydney Smith. She was a beloved sister to her siblings: Tunassa Nicole Adams, Tiffany Adams, Michael Adams, Jatavis Ricks, Raimondo Harrell, Tellis Austin, Bobby Day, Quincy Sims, Richard Sims, Larry Sims, and Sidney Smith Jr. Her memories will also be treasured by her in-laws, friends, IRS family, and military units (352nd CSSB Wildcats, 81st RRC, 282nd QM CO Supply).
Miyoshi's life was filled with joy and love, and she shared that with those around her. She cherished spending time with her family and friends, traveling, coaching basketball, running, dancing, being a cheer mom to her daughter, and enjoying good food. Her loss will be deeply felt, but her memory will be a blessing to all who knew her.
