Mark Anthony Garvey

Mark Anthony Garvey AKA “Chris”, “Coppa”, was born on June 14, 1965 in Evergreen, Manchester, Jamaica to parents Alva and Verrette Garvey, who predeceased him. He attended Comfort Hall All Age School, and Balaclava Secondary School before attending Technical Vocational School with HEART Trust NTA to pursue his love and passion as a child in Electrical Installation.

Upon completing his studies he worked in the field of electrical installation at several companies in Jamaica. However, the majority of his working history was with Grains Jamaica Limited, now Jamaica Grains and Cereals Limited. He worked in the electrical department and helped to maintain the daily electrical operations.

In July of 2004 Mark emigrated to the United States of America and began a new chapter in his life in Florida. He was able to use his skills and education obtained in Jamaica to continue working in the electrical field. His passion and drive to excel in his trade led him to relocate to Georgia where he further advanced his skills to include HVAC and Solar Installation and Maintenance. He was employed at Radiance for most of his working years in Georgia. His most recent employment was with Cantsink. He is known as a work-a-holic by his family, co-workers, and those who were close to him. A famous saying by Marc Anthony is, “if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life”. This phrase can accurately describe Mark. He enjoyed what he did and was very good at it.

Mark became acutely ill and was hospitalized towards the end of August 2024, at Piedmont Hospital in Fayetteville and later at Emory University Midtown Atlanta. Mark succumbed to his brief illness on September 27, 2024. He was surrounded by his colleague and friend who held his hands and watched him take his last breath.

Mark 'Chris’ has touched many lives throughout his lifetime. His death has left a void in the lives of many. He will be missed by his immediate family, friends, and co-workers.

A celebration of life memorial service and reception will be held for Mark on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
