An ever-free and beautiful spirit, Julie Emily (Temple) Gross, 53, of Stockbridge, GA, passed away May 3, 2012 in Hampton, Georgia. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm June 30 at the Horis A. Ward -Fairview Chapel in Stockbridge, with Rev. Malika Delongoria officiating.
She was born July 1, 1958 in Chicago to Charles H. and Emily (Nowicki) Temple. Hilarious, good-natured and altogether fun, she was a talented artist and active in the theatre before graduating from McHenry Community High School in 1976. She later attended classes at Northern Illinois University and dreamed of illustrating children's books.
She relocated to Savannah, GA in 1986, before settling in the Atlanta area ten years later. Her tenacious advocacy for autistic children and the disadvantaged availed itself in the formation of several family support groups, Parents Against Violence Everywhere (PAVE), as well as her active membership on the Save Our Students advisory board, The Youth Empowerment Project, and grant-writing for The Atlanta Project.
Her legacy of caring, giving and helping others leaves an everlasting imprint on the lives of those she touched. Her zest for learning never faltered and she continued to help others while pursuing knowledge and improvement through the art of Astrology and metaphysics. Also a talented singer and dancer, Julie’s radiant soul brought joy that no one can match or replace, and for that her family and friends are eternally grateful. She will be sorely missed.
Julie was preceded in death by her father, Charles H. Temple, who also left us too soon, and by her maternal grandmother, Victoria (Wieckowicz) Nowicki, who was an important influence on her life.
She is survived by her children: Emily Tiedje, Patrick Brady, and Christian Gross, all of Stockbridge, GA, who could not have been blessed with a more selfless and loving mother; her mother, Emily Temple, of Savannah, GA; her siblings: Victoria Cole, of Stockbridge, GA and Charles (Stephanie) Temple, of Des Plaines, IL; her beloved nieces and nephews: Jessica Cole, Matthew Cole, Charles W. Temple and Jenna Temple. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
To honor her memory, donations can be made to the Autism Research Institute in San Diego, CA.
