Jerry George Coots, Sr., age 83, of Stockbridge, Georgia completed his life journey on February 18, 2015 and has gone to meet God face to face. Jerry was born in Savannah, Georgia on 11-10-1931 to Cecil and Adele Coots. Jerry joined the Air Force and proudly served his country in the Korean War. He later became an Air Traffic Controller and upon retirement there, he worked as the Court Administrator at the City of Atlanta Municipal Court and then at the City of Atlanta Traffic Court where he retired in 1999. Jerry loved antique cars and was a devoted family man to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Heaven’s Door Sunday School class at Way of the Cross Baptist Church and loved the Lord. He is pre-deceased by his parents, sister, Louise Miller, brother, William Coots, son, Gregory Coots and Thomas Coots, daughter, Deborah Coots Moodey. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Pat) Coots of Stockbridge, sons, Edward (Pam) Coots of Jonesboro and Jerry G. Coots, Jr. of Forest Park, seven grandchildren; Will (Rhonda) Coots of McDonough, GA, Miki Coots Yancey of Cleveland, GA, Melisa (Joel) Fincher of Cleveland, GA, Ashley (Nicole) Coots of Jackson, GA, Nathan Coots of Stockbridge, GA, Courtney Coots of Kalispell, MT, and Mark Mooney of Cleveland, GA, great-grandchildren, Taylor Coots of Ellenwood, GA, Ashleigh Brand of Ellenwood, GA, Trent & Kaden Coots of Jackson, GA, Jacob, Selena and Seirra Fincher and Carlton Garrett of Cleveland, GA, Emilee Sholar of Cleveland, GA, Cody Yancey of Newnan, GA, Kynlee & Rylee Coots of Kalispell, MT and Tyler Coots of Newnan, GA, sister, Mary Coots Cunningham of Dayton, TN, brother, Lawrence (Donna) Coots of Foley, AL, numerous nieces, nephews and friends and his devoted Way of the Cross Church family who loved and prayed for him daily.
We would like to thank the staff of Amedisys Hospice For their care of Jerry and a special thank you to his caregivers, Corrine Belford and Stephanie Underwood.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday Feb 22nd at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home – Fairview Chapel at 1:00pm, with Visitation on Saturday Feb 21st from 4:00-8:00pm.
