Janet was born in Dearborn, Michigan the daughter of Richey L. Young and Frances Martin Young. She was preceded in death by father, Rev. Richey Young; husband, Randy Choate; nephew, Corey Evan Young and other relatives.
Mrs. Janet Choate lived in Jamaica, W. I. from 1974 – 1981 with her parents and siblings where they served as missionaries. She loved Jamaicans and was actively involved in the church especially with children. Janet learned sign language, taught in the deaf school and interpreted church services. She loved everything about Jamaica, made lifetime friends and fluently spoke Jamaican Patois. Janet was loved by all who knew her! Her passion for sign language led her to pursue a vocation as a Certified Interpreter for the Deaf in the Fulton County School System. She was forced to leave her loved vocation because of physical disabilities. She endured much suffering and pain but ALWAYS with a smile! She will be greatly missed but NEVER FORGOTTEN! Her testimony and legacy lives on. SHE FOUGHT A GOOD FIGHT, SHE KEPT THE FAITH AND SHE FINISHED HER COURSE.
Survivors include : Children, Linda Ellen Choate (McDonough), Emily Victoria Choate (Atlanta), Matthew Robert McAllister (McDonough); grandchildren, Amilia Jade Blake; Malachi Samuel Bell; Mother, Frances Young (McDonough/Jamaica, W I) Siblings; James (Jimmy) Young (Jeanette) Flintstone, Ga.; Joyce Young Lakewood, CO; Jill Evans (Barry) McDonough, Ga; Jack Young (Scotch Plains, N.J.) C.J. Young (Lakewood , Co); Aunts, Uncles , Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, lifetime Chosen Family of David and Della Peacock and multitude of friends.
Mrs. Janet Choate was a member of Way of the Cross Baptist Church, McDonough, Georgia where celebration and thanksgiving service will be held Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 12:00 noon. Viewing at the church 11:00 a.m. – 12 noon. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Horis Ward Funeral Home in Stockbridge, Georgia. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
