James A. Mayer, 88, of Lagrange, Georgia passed away peacefully on February 27, 2019. He was born to the late James and Cora Mayer on September 11, 1930 in Stockdale, Texas. He retired from the US Army after 24 years of service and went on the work for Orkin. He later went on the work for and retire from the state of Georgia’s Department of Agriculture.
He had a good and dry sense of humor and he enjoyed making everyone laugh. He was also great at expressing his love for people. He will be greatly missed by all who know and love him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Betty Mayer and his daughter; Barbara O’Loughlin.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children; Sharon Addison and Michael Mayer, his grandchildren; Kevin Addison, Kathy Addison, Kym Addison and Jonathan Cannady, three great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family and friends will be received for a visitation on Sunday, March 3, 2019 from 12 PM to 2 PM at Horis A. Ward Funeral home located at 376 Fairview Rd in Stockbridge, GA 30281. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 2 PM. Interment will be take place at Fairview Memorial Gardens
