James Edward Mapp aka “Boot or Pig” was born August 18, 1950 to the late Robert "Jerry" Mapp, Sr. and Littie Bell “Doll Baby” Cox-Mapp in Rockdale County, Conyers, Georgia.
During his early years, James attended Peeks Chapel Baptist Church. He attended J.P. Carr Elementary/High School and after graduation, he join the Army. He served in the Vietnam War conflict as a Heavy Vehicle Driver (this is where he got those great driving skills from).
James enjoyed baseball-preferable The Braves and LA Dodgers. James was member of the TARA Club in Hapeville. He also loved football, wrestling, and travelling all over the world but Mexico was an annual vacation that he loved the most. He had a love for Chatman’s Pharmacy in Hapeville, hats, good barbeque, country music and overall just having fun.
James was called to his heavenly home Sunday, November 27, 2022 with his family by his side. James was predeceased by his parents, Robert "Jerry" Mapp, Sr., and Littie Bell “Doll Baby” Cox- Mapp; his brother, Robert "Jessie" Mapp, Jr.; and his sisters, Frances Lee Mapp-Fallins, Leila Bell Mapp-Grier and Vernon Mapp-Brantley-Kendrick.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughters, Shonterria (Paul) Martin Stokes and Andrea “Cookie” Mapp; his grandchildren: Antonio Price and Hannah Barnes; his brother, Johnny (Sheila) Mapp; his sisters, Sirlemmer “Butter” Cooksey, Eugene Christine Morris, Elise Webb and Precious H. Mapp; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, dear friends and neighbors.
A Celebration of Life for James will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 12:00 Noon in The Fairview Suite at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281.
