Jack "Papa Jack" Simpson McLendon

Jack was born at home in Locust Grove, GA to the late Mr. Roger Henry and Mrs. Vennie Thomas McLendon. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Donnie McLendon, Roger “Mann” McLendon, Patricia Cook, as well as grandchildren, Christopher Loggins and Dustin Daniecki.

He served this country by way of the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1962; active reserves from 1962 until 1965. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially fishing with his grandsons. He was also an active member in his church and choir. Papa Jack was sole proprietor of McLendon Painting and Decorating for more than 25 years. In addition, he did carpentry work and was an all-around handy man. Watching the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs, gardening, and being a true patriot to our country were a few of the things he enjoyed most.

Jack is survived by his children, Patricia Kinsey (Travis), Wanda Henderson (Earvin), Angela Hilton (Robbie Brown), Amy Delgado (Juan); grandchildren, Michael White (Lordes), Nicole Wilson (Jack), Michelle Hoffman (Ty), Betsy Chandler (Jonathan), Joe Henderson, Gary Henderson, Crystal Busbee (Nate), Austin Hilton (Alexus English), Jeremy Davis (Andrea), Joshua Davis (Ashli); great-grandchildren, Emily White, Caitlin Davis, Breanna Davis, Devin Wilson, Hugh Henry Hoffman, Braylon Chandler, Jacob Phillips, Blake Phillips, Madeline Busbee, Ashton Hilton, Alexis Davis, Alexander Davis, Kyleigh Roden, and Kaydence Davis; sister Mrs. Geraldine Campbell (Bobby); several nieces, nephews, and a host of beloved church family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home Fairview Chapel, 376 Fairview Road Stockbridge, GA 30281, on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 11:00AM – 1:00PM. Celebration of life services will be held in the Chapel of Horis A. Ward Funeral Home at 1:00PM followed by a graveside committal at Locust Grove City Cemetery, 3640 Highway 42 Locust Grove, GA 30248.
