Mr. Herman Lee Allen, born December 23, 1933, passed away on September 26, 2016 at his home in Newborn Georgia, following several months of declining health. He was the son of the late Hoyt and Mamie Ballew Allen of Clifton Springs.
Herman worked for Carnes Brothers Floor Covering from the age of 22 until his retirement in 1993. In addition to supervising large projects such as several Atlanta area hospitals, he was also lead man in the Coca Cola Museum’s original floor design. He enjoyed being outdoors working in his beautiful yard and was a wonderful handyman. “Tinkering” with cars and lawnmowers was a passion of his and he thoroughly enjoyed getting together with his brothers and working on projects. He was also an avid sports fan, enjoying the Falcons, Braves and NASCAR.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Joyce Allen in 2012; Brothers James, Raymond, Jerry and Doyle.
Survivors include his children Vickie Reed of Cartersville, Mike Allen and his wife Wendy of Cartersville, Pam Stephens and her husband Haley of Calhoun; Four Stepchildren, Maury, Linda, Cathy and Sonia. Grandchildren Phillip Allen, Kacey Allen Strickland and her husband Randall, Alan Reed and Courtney Rediger; Great-grandchildren Zachary and Kaylyn Reed; Several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Two sisters, Winona Butler of Louisiana and Linda Burke of Buford; Two brothers, Gene Allen of Ellenwood and Marion Allen of Griffin. Several nieces and nephews also survive, along with special friends Johnny Lane, Ted Adams, Joe Rodgers and Ed & Peg Redrick.
Services will be held Sunday, October 2, 2016 at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home at 2pm. Pallbearers will be; Alan Reed, Clint Hubbard, Wayne Hubbard, Alan Seagers, Randall Strickland, Maury Reed and Phillip Allen.
