Mr. Harry W. White Sr., age 86, of McDonough Georgia, formerly of Forest Park Georgia, passed away on June 10, 2013. He was born in Decatur Georgia on March 10th, 1927 to the late Grover C. and Lillie Mae White. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII earning the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal and Good Conduct Medal and the Japan Occupation Medal. He then retired as a diesel mechanic and then worked on his small farm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming and taking care of his cows and chickens. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 33 years, Helen Rose White and by siblings McAllen White, Jean Lee, Cleo White and Ann Hodges.
He is survived by his children, Hal (Jeannette) White of McDonough, Kenneth White of McDonough and Jewell (David) Owens of Cornelia Georgia; 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife, Julia Peebles White, 3 step-children, Cindy (Brad) Fawcett of McDonough, Mickey (Joyce) Bryant of Loganville and Keith Bryant along with 10 grand children and 11 great grand children. Harry also had numerous nieces and nephews that so loved him. He is also survived by siblings Edgar White of Decatur and Fred White of Baxley Georgia, along with the many friends he has made over the years.
Visitation will be held on June 13, 2013 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Horis Ward Funeral Home, Fairview (Stockbridge) with funeral services to follow in the Horis Ward Chapel, with Pastor Doug Drucker officiating.
