George M. Valentine Jr.

George Valentine, age 78, of Stockbridge, GA passed away on Friday October 13, 2017. He was born April 3, 1939 in Atlanta, GA, raised in Tampa, FL. George was a loving husband, daddy, papa, great-papa, uncle, cousin, friend, and coach. He was a pillar of the Stockbridge community in his role as Vice President and Loan Officer for First State Bank in the 70's and 80's. He assisted many entrepreneurs in obtaining loans to start their businesses, that are still thriving in the community today. He was an avid UGA and Florida State football fan. George will be missed by each one of the lives he's touched.

George is survived by his wife, Lynn Valentine; children, Darlene (Steve) Hammond, Dina (Tommy) Thornton, Ampora (Daniel) Ewing and Trey (Carolyn) Valentine; step-children, Erika (Al) Pickren and Ryan (Kathy) Scholz; two sisters, Kathryn (Bill) Steen and Lucia (Ed) Williamson; sister-in-law Laurie (Darrell) Nix; grandchildren, Robby (Danielle) Case, Jonathan (Kristina) Case, Reannon (Trey) Cool, Kayla (Andy) Mays, Caitlin Ewing, Christopher Valentine, Camden Valentine, AJ (Melissa) Pickren, Dustin Pickren, Jessica Pickren, Gunnar Sallstrom, Angus Sallstrom, Isabelle Sallstrom, and Wyatt Scholz; great-grandchildren, Vincent Case, Gavin Case, Elizabeth Case, Hunter Cool, Christi Cool, Scarlett Cool, Bren Cool, Rayna Mays, Logan Pickren, and Savannah Pickren; nieces, Jennifer (Jym) Giesel, Kathy (Chris) Tomlinson, and Krista (Matt) Teague; nephews Stephen Welch and James Bowers.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucia Valentine as well as his daughter, Christi Heather Valentine.

A visitation for George will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM.
